Combining decision modes¶
In Rhizome, decision modes can be combined by using the gauge feature. A gauge is a non-binding vote whose result serves as the basis for a subsequent binding decision.
How it works¶
When creating a decision, you can activate the Gauge option. After the vote, the topic is not considered decided – instead it returns to preparation. A new, binding vote with a different mode can then be started.
Examples¶
-
Shortlist via ranking, then distribute points: The group first creates a ranking via Ranking as a gauge. In the next step, a binding decision is made via Distributing points on the most promising options.
-
Resistance poll before consent: A Resistance poll as a gauge reveals where the biggest concerns lie. Based on these results, the proposal is refined and then decided via Consent.
-
Majority vote as a temperature check: A quick Majority vote as a gauge shows the group's tendency before a more involved process like Distributing points makes the final decision.
