Combining decision modes

In Rhizome, decision modes can be combined by using the gauge feature. A gauge is a non-binding vote whose result serves as the basis for a subsequent binding decision.

How it works

When creating a decision, you can activate the Gauge option. After the vote, the topic is not considered decided – instead it returns to preparation. A new, binding vote with a different mode can then be started.

Examples

  • Shortlist via ranking, then distribute points: The group first creates a ranking via Ranking as a gauge. In the next step, a binding decision is made via Distributing points on the most promising options.

  • Resistance poll before consent: A Resistance poll as a gauge reveals where the biggest concerns lie. Based on these results, the proposal is refined and then decided via Consent.

  • Majority vote as a temperature check: A quick Majority vote as a gauge shows the group's tendency before a more involved process like Distributing points makes the final decision.

Workflows and presets

Currently, modes are started manually one after another. Predefined workflows that automatically chain multiple modes are planned as a feature.
