Creating a new topic

Topics are the central working unit in Rhizome. They are where deliberation, collaboration, and decision-making take place.

Creating a topic

There are two ways to create a new topic:

  • "New Topic" button in the top-right corner of the navigation
  • Command palette via Cmd+K or by clicking "Search" — the "New Topic" action appears directly as an option

Both paths open the creation form. Start by entering a title and, optionally, a description.

Advanced options

Click Advanced view at the bottom left of the form to access additional settings:

  • Deadline — date and time by which the topic should be concluded
  • Groups — one or more groups to involve in the topic
  • Tags — keywords for categorization
  • Co-authors — additional people who should collaborate during the draft phase
  • Links — relationships to other topics:
    • References — the topic refers to another
    • Blocked by — the topic is blocked by another

Draft and publication

After saving, the topic has the status Draft. In the detail view, you can:

  • continue working on the description
  • create tasks, if already known
  • add participating groups

Once you have written a description and added at least one participating group, you can publish the topic. From that point on, it is visible to all members of the participating groups.

For more on the topic lifecycle, see Topics and phases.
