Writing in a topic

A topic is a common thread, a thread, where your team’s posts end up, along with decisions and notifications about interactions. You post in it just as you would in a chat. Everything else emerges as you write.

Write a post

Below is the text box labelled Write a post …. Type your message and press send. Your post will appear in the thread, visible to everyone involved in the discussion.

If you spot a mistake, you can edit the post within ten minutes. After that, you can no longer do so – and even before then, it will be marked (edited) along with the time.

The composer can do more than just create posts

Type a slash. The menu will show you what you can create here – a decision, a question, a proposal, a task or a file. Type the first few letters to filter the options.

The full list can be found under Commands.

Replying to a single post

Hover your mouse pointer over a post and select Reply. Your reply will show what it refers to – and specify the type: the proposal, the question, the task, the file or the decision.

Citation

Select a section of text in a post or in the document. A small menu will appear with four options:

  • Replies – the text appears as a quote in the composer, and you write below it
  • Quote in document – the text is appended to the document
  • Turn into a task – the highlighted section becomes a task
  • Turn into a proposal – the highlighted section becomes a proposal

The composer will not accept more than three quotes at a time.

Respond

An emoji on a post says ‘read’, ‘agree’ or ‘very good’ without anyone having to write another post. In long threads, that’s the difference between readable and unreadable.

Files

You can attach files directly to a post – using /file or by dragging them into the thread and dropping them there. They remain where they were mentioned and also appear in the thread overview.
