Procedure¶
Every decision has exactly one procedure. This determines how binding its outcome is, and is selected during creation – before the method and independently of it.
Binding¶
The result stands. Tasks can be derived from it, and it remains valid until someone revokes it.
Pulse check¶
Shows where the group stands and doesn’t commit anyone. Useful before anyone puts work into a proposal that nobody is going to support anyway.
A pulse check is only provided if a decision is made jointly. If the decision is made on someone else’s behalf, it does not answer the question asked.
Experiment¶
Binding, but for a fixed term. You set the term when you create it.
If the deadline expires, the decision becomes invalid – and the topic reopens automatically, even from the archive. Rhizome is therefore meeting a deadline that you have set.
An ongoing experiment and its resolution
A topic involving an ongoing experiment can be resolved; Rhizome then indicates that it will reopen once the deadline has passed. Anyone who does not wish this to happen should either wait for the experiment to conclude or terminate it beforehand.
Not to be confused with the method. The procedure specifies how binding the decision is, whilst the methodspecifies the means by which it is reached. Both are selected separately.
