Randomize option order¶
A toggle under Advanced decision Rules. If it is switched on, each person sees the proposals in their own randomize option order.
It is switched off by default. Without it, the proposals are the same for everyone, listed in the order in which they were created.
Why?¶
Items listed higher up tend to be chosen more often. In a vote on eight proposals, the order plays a part in the outcome, and nobody has deliberately arranged them that way. The switch eliminates this effect by distributing it evenly amongst all the options.
What remains stable¶
Each proposal is assigned a letter, which is based on the order in which it was created, not on its displayed position. This means that ‘proposal B’ remains the same for everyone, even if it appears third on your list and first on someone else’s.
The randomize option order only applies whilst the result is hidden. Once you have voted, you will see the proposals sorted by their current ranking.
Available for majority vote, dot poll, ranking and Resistance check.
