Account settings¶
Account settings control your personal experience in Rhizome.
General¶
- Preferred start view — determines which view appears after login or when clicking the home icon in the breadcrumbs. Options include: Overview, Inbox, My Topics, or All Topics.
- Language — the language of the user interface. Currently English and German are supported; more languages are planned. This setting only affects UI elements, not user-generated content.
Appearance¶
- Theme — choose between light mode, dark mode, or automatic. When set to "automatic", Rhizome follows the operating system or browser setting.
Profile¶
- Avatar — upload a profile picture. A square image works best, since avatars are displayed as circles in Rhizome.
- First and last name — your displayed name
- Username — used for mentions in chats and the live editor. Type
@followed by a username to mention someone. Usernames are typically shorter than full names, making quick mentions more convenient.
Notifications¶
You can choose what you are notified about:
- All activity — new and upcoming topics in your groups
- Relevant interactions — activity in topics you participate in, plus mentions
- No notifications — you receive no email notifications
Additional toggles are available for specific notification types.
Beta note
During the beta phase, email notifications are still basic. Planned additions include daily digests and morning briefings with an overview of upcoming and recent activity.
Security and access¶
- Change password — update your password
- Active sessions — an overview of all devices where you are logged in. Your current session is highlighted. You can end individual sessions or sign out of all devices at once — for example, if a device is not nearby and you want to prevent unauthorized access.
