The result view¶
Once a decision] has been finalised, the results view shows not only what the outcome was, but also how it was reached. That is the difference between a decision and a transparent decision.
What it says there¶
Attendance – who attended and how many out of how many. If a quorum was required, you can see whether it was reached.
Who voted and how – depending on the method used, this may be expressed as approval, votes, points or ranking, in each case with names. Decisions in Rhizome are not secret.
Open objections and vetoes – who raised an objection, what it was about, and whether it was resolved.
The versions of a proposal – if it was amended during the process, every version can be viewed. This makes it clear what the earlier approvals were based on.
The applicable rules – quorum, required majority, disqualifying resistance threshold and the other special rules – are summarised in the decision.
Why it ended like that¶
Every final decision has a reason. It answers the question that would otherwise remain unanswered – why now, why this way:
| Reason | What happened |
|---|---|
| All participants voted | All votes cast before the deadline |
| Deadline reached | Time ran out |
| Quorum not reached | Too few people took part |
| Tie | Two or more options are level |
| Neither option wins | none of these received the most votes |
| Winner did not meet required vote share | The required majority was not achieved |
| Winner had a disqualifying resistance vote | The disqualifying resistance threshold was triggered |
| Alternative proposed | Someone has put forward an alternative; the procedure changes |
| Resolved by decider | In the case of a delegated decision |
| Resolved by co-creator | Someone has ended the process |
| Validity has expired | An experiment has expired |
A result with no winner is not an error. quorum not reached and Neither option wins are statements about the group, and they belong in the minutes just like any other.
After that¶
If the process is binding, the outcome can be turned into a task. If it was just a snapshot of pulse check, the outcome is not binding on anyone – it simply tells you where you stand, and a binding decision can be made afterwards if desired.
If the result isn’t one you can work with, you can make the decision again as Remix] – using the same proposals or different ones.
If Feedback] is enabled, a comment thread opens below the decision for anything else that needs to be said afterwards.
